A Warning

Under a hypocritical moon
Shadow beings dwell
Black, vaporous, featureless
Creatures of the night
Possessing powers to manipulate
Reading you, inhaling the aroma of flesh
Lurking, watching
Waiting
Beneath the cloak of darkness

Always there...

Reside within the light
Never leaving it's comfort
Guard precious
Emotions, thoughts, fears
Guard your very being
For the naive, the ignorant
Consequences are rendered
Attack
You belong to them

 It's too late...

Stealing your breathe
Lips upon ashes
Latching into your soul
With barbed talons
Changing your physique
To match their own
Life
Fades
Away

Swallowed
Into the unknown

Stuck for eternity...

Dana

  1. Well ... now I'm officially terrified. Ha-ha, I may be investing in a nightlight sometime soon!! And here I thought zombies were the things to be afraid of!

  2. ha i like the moon ar hypocritical in your opening...there is a creepiness in your words but also a good basis in reality as well...the things that creep in wait ready to make us like them....

To have great poets... there must be great audiences
