Digesting

Swallowing hard
Ingesting your words
They fall into my gut
With a thud...

I'm sickened
With the thoughts
Of what could be
And what is...

Knowing it never will be

Dana

  6. Your words land with the same thud...which, in poetry, is a good thing...in the real world...a feeling I'm all too familiar with...words...it's a love hate relationship of the worse kind when they hold so much power over us and we understand their strength...most don't...no matter what school yard they grew up on. How's that for an essay! Whoops! LOVED the write, lady!

  11. This is a raelly tough read. Words have so much power, either to build up or to tear down. The tragedy is that too often we only tear down and the wounds we create never truly heal.

  12. Evocative and powerful. Punchy words spoken in a soft voice.
