Starlit Dreams

freedigitalphotos.net

My heart weeps at the magnificence of the midnight sky
During summers last act
Moving me to cry as I thrust my face upward
Outward to accept the gift of this sight
My heart aches to sparkle as brightly
- just once
To burn with as much power and passion
Having a great impact on all who behold me
Moving them to emotion as I am moved
My heart yearns to roam the vastness of space
To be free from the pain life causes
To dance with the heavens as I gaze upon the sphere we call home
- just once
To experience the flight of Angels while adorning their jewels
Witnessing their brilliance
Knowing their knowledge of mans overall goodness
To know for all eternity that we as people will shine alongside the stars
Being capable of love and respect
- just once
Before I descend to my world and look upon the faces of my cherubs
And be reminded constantly that they are why I'm still here

From The Start... I Knew

Edgy vibes drip like sweat from your skin
And leave traces of a lie on mine
Rendering me cold
As we shake hands for the first time

      You don't know...
      But that's all I needed

      To know
      To stay away

Shifting from one foot to the other
Attempting to hide your real you
I see you scan my possessions
For tasty morsels

A hicked up Alan Jackson
With mistrustful eyes
That I can instantly discern
Strives to pour on the charm

It is my gift to see
To feel
That your an ass
And nothing more

The Sum of Summer

Droplets
Of
Sun
Infused
Dew
Dribble
Into
My
Faculty
As
I
Relish
Life

Fused

I consumed from the depths of your eyes
Now I thirst for more
Devoured the words tumbling past your lips
Still no wiser than before
Inhaling your essence
Unable to resist
Ingesting your being entirely, savoring your nourishing soul
Which will be the death of me
Since I have found peace in you
Now we are eternally fused
Just as it should be

Break On Through

Fractured
Broken
I'm shattering through

Exposed
Open
I'm starting anew

You'll never know me
I don't recognize myself
I refuse to be what you've made of me
A shell of my former personality

Break on thru to the other side

Game Changer

Seething
Breathing
Massive thoughts

Shaking
Breaking
Down my brain

My eyes glisten
With knowing
But it's ignored

At
This
Moment

I
Now
See

You are more
Than you've ever been
And there is no going back

Hateful
Spiteful
Spitting venom

Saying
Playing
Blame games

Your eyes sparkle
With knowing
And it's meaningless

She's a Workaholic

morguefile

There were fifteen pictures left and spare flashbulbs in her pocket

Photography takes her away
To that place
Where nothing can touch her

No words  biting at her bruised flesh
Negativity filling her lungs with each sad breath

Just her and her trustworthy camera
Which is the only thing she can depend on
Consisting only of plastic and metal parts; no heart

Where's the Wizard of Oz when you need him...

The coolness of it in her hands
Dissipating the heat from her anger

That last fight was a doozy...

Looking through the lens
Into a parallel universe
A world filled with smiles and beauty
With love

That special place she covets
Where she would gladly reside forever
And so she tries

An Evening of Awakenings

A Dinner Table at Night, 1884, John Singer Sargent

Delicate pink illumination reflecting off my glass
Masks my disappointed face
The sadness encasing my features
The tears welling within my breast

I let you back in
I allowed you to mentally break me
And I said yes
And you said you loved me

A potentially amazing evening
Has been shattered by your
Neglectful attitude
And disrespect

The more you speak
The more I want to rrrrip the smirk
That frolicks on your lips
The glee dancing in your eyes

You think you've won
You think you pulled a fast one
You've won nothing
But a world of hurt

Because now I'm pissed

Being Misunderstood

scott.m.liddell

I've kept a journal of sorts
An archive of emotions
And was prompted to retract time

Scanning... scanning through memories
When I come across one
That claws for my attention

Titled: Misunderstood

"I'm surrounded by a room full of people, yet I feel loneliness inside.
All are familiar, kind faces that I love. They don't get me though"

Yep... I remember
I recall this one in particular
So I read, I retreat

I read with compassion
For the woman who wrote it
For the time and place she was in

"I want to let someone in.
I want to be understood"

For the woman I still am

"They see the me that I want them to see. They see the smile I want them to see.
Nobody knows me with just one look. Not one can tell with just a glance. "

Yes... I determine
She most certainly "gets" me
My state of mind

Desperate
To
Connect

Thirsting
For them to
Realize

Somethings never change
And I've still not discovered
Someone... anyone
Who sees past my play
