Crown of Thorns
Pricked my finger
Upon my crown of thorns
A stinging reminder
As the blood turns tacky
I'm not at all who I wanted to be
Bearing scars
Mostly invisible, but definitely felt
In spite of this
I am very glad to still feel
Something
Upon my crown of thorns
A stinging reminder
As the blood turns tacky
I'm not at all who I wanted to be
Bearing scars
Mostly invisible, but definitely felt
In spite of this
I am very glad to still feel
Something

This reminded me of a GooGoo Dolls lyric I love: "you bleed just to know you're alive."
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is a great reminder that we are still here which means anything is still possible!
DeleteVery nicely done! Interesting that our crowns sometime become the thorns that leave us scars!
ReplyDeleteSometimes our crowns are made of thorns when we are our own worst critic!
DeleteAh a sharp jab at reality.
ReplyDeleteMuch💜love
Definitely! Thank you!
DeleteGood one! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by for a read!
DeleteThat sting that sticks with us and reminds us of so much. Touching quadrille.
ReplyDeleteSometimes those reminders are what keeps us knowing that anything is possible!
DeleteDeeply personal and introspective...such as interesting start, with the prick on the finger bringing forward your thoughts like that...
ReplyDeleteThank you! The majority of what I write comes directly from my experiences!
DeleteDana - I really, really relate to those last five lines! This is very good.
ReplyDeleteAll best,
David [ben Alexander]
Thank you very much! That is all that I can hope for... someone that can relate and understand that they are not alone in their struggles!
DeleteI love the raw truth this holds Dana. A lovely write and your photography is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I love taking pictures as much as I love to write!
DeleteA beautiful poem!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping in to read!
DeleteOh.. so true... the numbness after pain is worse than pain itself
ReplyDeleteMost definitely. It's the most dangerous as well.
DeleteWe would not be alive if we could not feel pain as well as pleasure. Both make up a life.
ReplyDeleteVery true, which is why feeling numb is dangerous!
DeleteStreaming consciousness .... my favorite! Well done, well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!!
