Owning the night

Into the night
The darkness I embrace
A shadow among shadows
I pace
Winged creatures boldly swoop
Invading my space
Becoming an extension of my thoughts

  2. Very dark but, also great imagery. For something that just popped into you head, it's brilliant.

  3. I could see something like this coming to a person in the middle of the night when images appear as extensions of our thoughts. Glad you shared.

  4. smiles...i love the night...but it also carries great symbolism...the swooping predators invading your thoughts...maybe i read too much into it...i have come to terms with my darkness though...the shadow scares me no longer...

    1. I've made peace with the darkness as well. It took me awhile... I literally was afraid of the dark! I do feel like I've become apart of the night since I tend to be a night owl.

  8. the winged creatures as extension of the thoughts...maybe not bad at all...brings in a new dimension maybe and helps us see things from a more lofty view..

  9. Sometimes you have to embrace the dark...even when it's a bit spooky.

  10. This makes me think about when I was young and had nightmares every night. I'd fight the night, refusing to sleep.

  11. Great image, that last, identifying thought with those swooping and rather ambiguous night creatures.

To have great poets... there must be great audiences
