Independence

http://mobiusfaith.wordpress.com/

Like lily pads upon the water
I float
Upon your pool of madness
I ride the waves
Of your emotions
And decorate your
Existence
But just once
I'd like to bask in the glory
Of the sun
Without you

  1. smiles..in every relationship there are def. times when we need a bit space, spend a bit time on our own and then even more enjoy the time together again..

  2. Ohh... yes, we all need our own space to simply just allow ourselves to 'Be' with no-one calling on us for any needs to be met.
So much said in this. Lovely imagery.

  3. oh...there is so much truth in that final line...in my world...if I were to make such a fantastic statement...it would be taken personally and I would be faced with an impenetrable wall of silence...a careful what you wish for passive aggressive stance to teach me a lesson...yup...I figured out how to get my alone time ;) Loved the play to the prompt...awesome!

    1. I face the same issue most of the time which is what this poem is about. It all depends on what I'm going to be doing during my alone time that decides if I'm going to be made to feel guilty or not.

  4. oh snap....yeah its hard to ride those waves for so long...and the need to have that break just to breath...to maybe be on your own a bit in the sun...felt piece...

    1. Yes, rarely do we as stay at home moms get an actual break from mommy life to be something other than that. There is more to us than what we do all day. To be free of those responsibilities for a short while is very important so that we may be the best we can be when we are taking care of them.

  6. Yes, everyone needs and deserves their own spotlight, not sharing someone else's or simply paying homage to someone who has it.

  14. A pretty poem, with thoughtfulness and a desire for space inhabiting the words ~ quite awesome in its simplicity, yet ... tragic in a way.

To have great poets... there must be great audiences

Thank you for being that audience!
