Blogger Spotlight~ An interview with Joy Weese Moll

I would like to introduce you to Joy Weese Moll, a fellow Blogger who participated in Robert Lee Brewers April Platform Challenge. Joy agreed to do an interview with me about her blog Joys Book Blog.

Joy Weese Moll transitioned from computer programmer to magazine publisher to librarian to book blogger, with a few stops in between. She grows eggplants, tomatoes, and chard in her garden but routinely fails with bell peppers and zucchini (who can't grow zucchini?!). Her greatest accomplishment of the last five years is losing 70 pounds. The most exciting thing she will do in 2012 is travel to Ireland.
Joy Weese Moll

1) How long have you been blogging/writing?
Joy’s Book Blog began in January 2011, but I had two previous blogs going back to 2003.

2) Tell us a bit about your blog. What topics do you write about?
I write about books, which lets me write about everything I want –I just have to find a book about it. My favorite topics are health and wellness, diversity, cooking, and gardening.

3) What inspired you to start Joy's Book Blog?
I wanted to be part of the vibrant book blogging community while having an outlet for self expression.

4) What has been your favorite book/books to review? (include the link to post)

5) What is your favorite book to read for pleasure? How has it influenced you?
I’ve owned every edition of The Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogler and it has affected how I read and how I write and, even, to some degree how I live my own life’s story.

6) Is there a particular genre of book that you prefer?
My favorite fiction genres are: young adult, romance, urban fantasy, mystery, and literary. I also read memoirs, cookbooks, diet books, and histories.

7) How has this blog strengthened you as a writer?
Having an audience has been really good for my writing. My writing improves when I consider the impact it will have on my readers.

8) What do you consider to be the most challenging about writing?
The easy answer is “time to write.” But I’m starting to realize that I sometimes use that as an excuse and the answer is a more difficult one that I haven’t fully formed but it has something to do with fear and resistance.

9) What are some goals you'd like to accomplish?
My dearest dream is to see a book of mine on a shelf at a library or bookstore.

10) What are you currently working on?
A nonfiction book that I’m not talking about much yet and a series of paranormal romances that I’ve been calling “Hogwarts meets graduate school.”

11) Do you have a favorite quote?
Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. –Ralph Waldo Emerson, Journal, November 11, 1842

Thank you Joy for participating in this interview! I had a lot of fun learning about you and your blog.
